Tera Synth updated – Audiobus 3 and SALE pricing for VirSyn’s Tera Synth

Download from iTunes App Storetera synth logoVirSyn make some great iOS music apps, many of which I’ve reviewed here on the Music App Blog over the last few years. ReSlice is one of my favourite app of 2017 will the recent Bark Filter brings a really interesting take on multi-band compression. Bubbling up towards the top of their synth tree is Tera Synth which I reviewed some time ago. This is a hugely impressive iPad-only synth. It is deep while remaining fairly easy to program and sounds very good indeed.

Tera Synth – the modern UI provides plenty of options for DIY synth programmers :-)

Anyway, Tera Synth was updated yesterday with v.1.5.0 arriving on the App Store. There are a number of very useful changes in this version. Audiobus 3 support is now included. In addition, Ableton Link support has been added. The synth engine must also have been optimised somewhat as the polyphony can now be pushed up to 32 voices if required. Oh, and if you are not yet a Tera users, to celebrate the update, VirSyn have the app on SALE for a limited time; at 40% off the usual price, you can pick up a copy for just UK£11.99/US$11.99.

Tera Synth now includes Audiobus 3 and Ableton Link support.

I’ve given the updated version a quick spin within Audiobus 3 this morning and run it alongside a few other Ableton Link enabled apps. All seems to work smoothly and the Audiobus 3 support includes support for the MIDI routing options within AB3.

Perhaps the only surprise is that, as yet at least, Tera Synth hasn’t joined the ranks of other VirSyn iOS apps that are offering AU plugin support. The company obviously have a good grip on that technology and, for example, ReSlice’s AU implementation is very well done. It would seem to be inevitable that it will come….  but fingers crossed Tera gets the AU treatment sooner rather than later.

If you are not familiar with Tera Synth, then do check out the original Tera Synth review here. It is a very cool synth app with a distinctive sound….  It requires iOS8.0 or later, runs on an iPad and is just a 34MB download. And, while it is fully deserving of its UK£19.99/US$19.99 pricing, 40% off it is even better value; this is a top-notch iOS synth app and well worth exploring.
