Duet Display update – fine-tuning for desktop screen extender app

I tend to focus here on the Music App Blog on iOS-based music production topics but, as regular readers will be aware, I also use a desktop-based music production system. In my own case, that work is predominantly built around an iMac running Steinberg’s Cubase. Of course, these two systems – iOS and OSX – are not mutually exclusive; they can be used together and I reviewed Duet Display - an interesting utility that can help make that happen - here on the blog some time ago. Duet Display … [Read more...]

Studiomux update – AppBC’s audio+MIDI over USB app gets further tweaks

I posted a full review of AppBC's Audiomux iOS music app when it was first released. Audiomux allowed you to stream audio between your iOS device and OSX desktop computer using nothing more than the standard USB charging cable that is supplied with your iPad or iPhone. It also complemented AppBC's Midimux app that does the same sort of data transfer for MIDI data. Both apps seems to work very well from the off and, used together, they make integrating your iOS music making technology and your … [Read more...]

midimittr update – further tweaks added to iOS MIDI connectivity app

I’ve reviewed MIDI LE here on the blog a while ago. Launched back in October 2014, this is a free universal app from developer Matthais Frick that originally provided just MIDI over Bluetooth connectivity. The app received a minor update back in April (to version 1.4.3) and also a name change; it is now called midimittr rather than MIDI LE. In February, the app was updated to v.1.4 and, just as with Midimux and Music IO, MIDI over USB was added to the feature list for those working … [Read more...]
