VoxSyn updated – VirSyn add preset sharing to their iOS vocoder app

VirSyn will be well known to the majority of computer-based musicians whether you work on the desktop or a mobile platform such as iOS. The company have an extensive portfolio of iOS music apps covering a number of different synths, audio effects and a dedicated arpeggiator app. Many of these apps are iOS-sized ports of VirSyn’s desktop virtual instruments and effects and I’ve reviewed a good number of them here on the blog over the last three years or so. One of the newer additions to this … [Read more...]

TF7 updated – Pier Lim’s FM iOS synth app gets some IAA refinements

No such thing as a free lunch? Well, not when it comes to music apps on the App Store because there are some freebies that are definitely worth grabbing and one of them is Pier Lim's synth app TF7. The base app is a free download so you can get a flavour of what's on offer but the app is one of the better FM synth engines available for iOS; if you are a fan of the sounds created by synths such as the Yamaha DX7 (a bit of a hardware classic), then TF7 might be a way of getting a slice of the … [Read more...]

Stria update – apeSoft give their left-field take on FM synthesis an update

To my bad, I've never got around to doing a full review of apeSoft's Stria synth app here on the Music App Blog. Developer apeSoft will be familiar to many iOS musicians through their various iOS music apps and their obvious close collaboration with Amazing Noises and their various iOS music apps. Between these two developer names, I’ve reviewed apps such as apeFilter, Sparkle, Dedalus, apeDelay and DubFilter and, if you have encountered any of these apps then you will know that apeSoft don’t … [Read more...]

iPulsaret update – apeSoft give their left-field synth app a major update

I did a full review of apeSoft's iPulsaret iOS music app some time ago here on the Music App Blog. Between these two developer names, I’ve reviewed apps such as apeFilter, Sparkle, Dedalus, apeDelay and DubFilter and, if you have encountered any of these apps then you will know that apeSoft don’t really do … [Read more...]

TF7 updated – Pier Lim’s FM iOS synth app gets some refinements

Synths, synths and... well...  more synths....  when it comes to iOS music apps, the App Store is not short of a few very good synths. I've lost count of the number of such synth apps I've reviewed here on the Music App Blog over the last couple of years but - to date at least - one of them has not been TF7 Synth (my bad!) by developer Pier Lim under his Tenacious Frog moniker. Indeed, this is an oversight as TF7 is both free (well, the base app at least so you can get a flavour of what's on … [Read more...]
