Unique giveaway results – three winners of Sugar Bytes new iOS synth

I did a full review of Sugar Bytes new iOS synth app Unique here on the blog last week. As regular readers of the blog will be aware, I’m a self-confessed of a fan of Sugar Bytes and I use Turnado, Thesys, Egoist, Cyclop and Effectrix on a regular basis in my iOS music making (and on the desktop!). Unique is another great addition to the line-up and, while I'm sure I own way more synth apps that I will ever need, at App Store pricing that's not such a difficult temptation to give in … [Read more...]

Unique review – Sugar Bytes port their desktop synth to iPad and iPhone

Considering I’m really a guitar player bought up on blues and classic rock, I have a bit of an unusual thing for Sugar Bytes. The company specialise is music software aimed very much at the more electronic musician and, even within that niche, their virtual instruments and effects are pretty much ‘out there’. Perhaps not the first choice for your latest hard rock song? OK, so I spend quite a lot of time creating production music as well…. and that does involve me in spreading my musical wings … [Read more...]

Unique launched – Sugar Bytes bring their popular desktop synth to iOS

As regular readers of the blog will be aware, I’m a self-confessed of a fan of Sugar Bytes and I use Turnado, Thesys, Egoist, Cyclop and Effectrix on a regular basis in my iOS music making. I also own a number of these in their desktop formats and, again, they get regular use. Most of the iOS app are ports of desktop-based software and there are still a number of candidates that Sugar Bytes could give the same treatment too. Which is exactly what they have done with the launch of Unique that … [Read more...]

apeSoft updates – a number of their apps updated for improved Audiobus 3 performance

Developer apeSoft will be familiar to many iOS musicians through their various iOS music apps and their obvious close collaboration with Amazing Noises and their various iOS music apps. Between these two developer names, I’ve given lots of coverage to apps such as apeFilter, Sparkle, iVCS3, and apeDelay and, if you have encountered any of these apps, then you will know that apeSoft don’t really do ‘conventional’. Anyway, a number of the apeSoft/Amazing Noises apps have been updated on the … [Read more...]

iDensity update – apeSoft’s multi-stream granulation app gets AU fine-tuning

As I posted just a few days ago, apeSoft have updated their very left-of-centre sound creation app iDensity to make it available as an AUv.3 plugin within a suitable AU host app (and there are now a good number of these). Developer apeSoft will be familiar to many iOS musicians through their various iOS music apps and their obvious close collaboration with Amazing Noises and their various iOS music apps. Between these two developer names, I’ve reviewed apps such as apeFilter, Sparkle, … [Read more...]

Developer apeSoft will be familiar to many iOS musicians through their various iOS music apps and their obvious close collaboration with Amazing Noises and their various iOS music apps. Between these two developer names, I’ve reviewed apps such as apeFilter, Sparkle, Dedalus, apeDelay and DubFilter and, if you have encountered any of these apps then you will know that apeSoft don’t really do ‘conventional’. However, apeSoft also don’t just do audio effects apps…. they also have a line of iOS … [Read more...]
