Smart Click update – free metronome app from Steinberg gets iOS11 support

A 'utility app' group that is well stocked on the App Store is that of the metronome app. The humble metronome is an under-appreciated tool and, if you are serious about your musical instrument skills, some time spent practicing against a metronome can do wonders for the tightness of your playing, whether that's drums, guitar or any other instrument. As with tuners, there are some decent free metronome apps and also some very good low cost options...  but if you are looking for an option on … [Read more...]

Cubase iC Pro update – Steinberg update their iOS remote control app for Cubase

As regular readers here will be aware, while I'm a huge fan of iOS-based music technology, I do also run a desktop-based music production system. In my case, that's built around Steinberg's Cubase DAW/sequencer (hence my preference for Cubasis under iOS). With quite so many years on my personal Cubase clock, I'm unlikely to be changing tack anytime soon but, having used a number of the obvious competitors, I have to say that it is now quite difficult to find a 'bad' DAW/sequencer whether you are … [Read more...]

Cubasis double giveaway results – 5 winners of Steinberg’s brilliant Cubasis and 5 winners of the Classic Machines IAP

As regular readers here will know, I'm a bit of a Cubasis fan. Cubasis offers a slick interface and a well focused feature set that lets you get on with the core tasks of recording and mixing audio/MIDI music productions. And, as a Cubase user on the desktop, for me at least, Cubasis makes a perfect platform for capturing initial ideas that can then easily be moved across to the desktop if they make the grade as something worth developing further. A personal opinion I know but, for me, Cubasis … [Read more...]

Cubasis update – new features and sale time for Steinberg’s brilliant iOS DAW/sequencer

As regular readers here will know, my personal iOS DAW/sequencer of choice is Steinberg's Cubasis. It's undoubtedly a great app - and I think Steinberg have got the balance of features (just about) right for the iOS platform - but as I'm also a Cubase user on the desktop, Cubasis is a very obvious choice for me. As iOS hardware has improved, so Steinberg have moved Cubasis forward, gradually adding now features and capabilities to the app with each update. And today a new update has arrived; … [Read more...]

Cubasis update – new features and sale time for Steinberg’s brilliant iOS DAW/sequencer

As I posted on Friday, Steinberg have just put Cubasis on a 50% off SALE pricing. They have, of course, done the occasional sale on the app before but it usually coincide with a holiday period or an update....   and as the sale that started on Friday wasn't connected with a holiday, then I guess a few folks might have guessed that an update was coming :-) And, rather wonderfully, Cubasis 2.1 arrived on the App Store today as a free update to existing users. The new version brings some welcome … [Read more...]

Cubasis SALE – sale time for Steinberg’s brilliant iOS DAW/sequencer

Cubasis is, for my money, the best 'all round' DAW/sequencer we currently have under iOS and, while Auria Pro most certainly provides a more desktop-style feature set, Cubasis offers a slick interface and a well focused feature set that lets you get on with the core tasks of recording and mixing audio/MIDI music productions. And, as I reported a few months ago, when Steinberg released v.2.0 of Cubasis (and Cubasis LE) it bought a range of excellent new features in an update that was free to all … [Read more...]
