Happy Holidays! – another round of iOS music app bargains :-)

Well, Black Friday has come and gone....  but, if you still have a little bit of flexibility in your flexible friend then the seasonal holiday/New Year period is now upon us and, whether Christmas is a festival where you are or not, it certainly seems like a time that many app developers (and, frankly, almost anyone that sells anything!) will have a bargain to offer you. I've already mentioned a few of this in individual posts but, as more get added (and I suspect they will), then I'll try to … [Read more...]

Modstep SALE – AppBC’s iOS MIDI sequencer for iPad ON SALE

Regular iOS music makers will be familiar with AppBC as the developer behind Studiomux and Modstep apps. The latter includes some of the Studiomux technology but also offers a fully-blown MIDI sequencer with both step sequencing and piano roll editing environments. If your music making revolves around MIDI, rather than audio recording, then Modstep is a powerful option for sequencing on your iPad. I did a full review of Modstep just after it was launched and the feature set is impressive. You … [Read more...]

Cubasis SALE – holiday sale for Steinberg’s brilliant iOS DAW/sequencer

Cubasis is, for my money, the best 'all round' DAW/sequencer we currently have under iOS and, while Auria Pro most certainly provides a more desktop-style feature set, Cubasis offers a slick interface and a well focused feature set that lets you get on with the core tasks of recording and mixing audio/MIDI music productions. And, as I reported a few months ago, Steinberg released v.2.0 of Cubasis (and Cubasis LE) recently bring a range of excellent new features in an update that was free to all … [Read more...]

Korg SALE – all Korg apps STILL ON SALE including Gadget, iM1 and Module

Korg have certainly made quite a splash with their iOS music apps over the couple of years. In Gadget, they have a 'best in class' all-in-one electronic music production app and, since its initial release, have added  extra 'gadgets' and other new features to make it even better. Then came Korg Module - probably the best sample-based virtual instrument now available for iOS - and demonstrating just how good an iPad can sound. Both of these app made my own personal 'top ten iOS music apps of … [Read more...]

Cyber Monday sales – bargain prices continue into the new week

Well, Black Friday has come and gone....  but, if you still have a little bit of flexibility in your flexible friend (or some change left over from your Saturday night out) then Cyber Monday is still with us. Most of the fabulous iOS music app sales that have been running over the last few days still hold good.... The sale pricing will disappear at different time points for each app over the next few days depending upon the approach adopted by the different developers involved. Anyway, I've … [Read more...]

fluXpad update – MoMinstruments open shop in their left-field take on a sample-based sequencer

I posted a review of WretchUp from the Mouse On Mars development some time ago on the blog but the team have more recently released fluXpad which the MoM team describe as a sample-based sequencer. I did a full review of fluXpad just a few weeks ago.... fluXpad does come with a typical Mom twist however; you  'draw' your pattern sequences for each sound. Multiple patterns (clips?) can be sequenced within a single project and these then triggers to create a full performance. As shown in the … [Read more...]

fluXpad sale – MoMinstruments take 25% off their left-field take on a sample-based sequencer

I posted a review of WretchUp from the Mouse On Mars development some time ago on the blog. WretchUp is most certainly a bit of a wild ride as an audio processor but, if you like to mangle audio in all sorts of unpredictable ways, and particularly if you like to do that in a performance context, then this is an app that might well appeal. The MoMinstruments team includes Oliver Greschke (of Elastic Drums fame) but, given WretchUp's pedigree, I think we should expect anything under the MoM … [Read more...]

AUM and Sector sale – price reductions on Jonatan Liljedahl’s brilliant iOS music apps

As I posted yesterday, Jonatan Liljedahl's essential iOS music utility app - AudioShare - is currently on sale. There are some developers that qualify for almost universal hero worship amongst the iOS music making community and Jonatan is one of those. So, it is the ubiquitous utility app AudioShare, the truly inspiring (and sometimes mind bending) electronic rhythm/groove app Sector, or the minimalist audio effects of the AUFX series, Jonatan creates brilliant apps that almost any iOS musician … [Read more...]

TonApp AS SALE – SilQ EQ and GuitarCapo+ on limited time sale

I've reviewed both the GuitarCapo+ and SilQ iOS music apps from developer Tonapp AS here on the Music App Blog and provided some coverage of the various updates to the apps since release. As I pointed out in the initial review, GuitarCapo+ is part virtual instrument and part learning tool/chord utility for guitar players. In particular, in the latter context, it makes working out chord shapes when you want to play a song with a capo in place on your real (you know, that thing with strings on … [Read more...]
