Cubasis SALE – sale time for Steinberg’s brilliant iOS DAW/sequencer

Cubasis is, for my money, the best 'all round' DAW/sequencer we currently have under iOS and, while Auria Pro most certainly provides a more desktop-style feature set, Cubasis offers a slick interface and a well focused feature set that lets you get on with the core tasks of recording and mixing audio/MIDI music productions. And, as I reported a few months ago, when Steinberg released v.2.0 of Cubasis (and Cubasis LE) it bought a range of excellent new features in an update that was free to all … [Read more...]

fluXpad and Elastic Drums giveaway – 5 bundles of the two apps to be won

I posted news items on both fluxPad and Elastic Drums earlier this week. The former has had a nice new update while the latter has an IAP drum sample sale going on. Both apps have plenty of offer to the iOS music maker with an interest in electronic music styles. You can perhaps best describe fluXpad as a sample-based sequencer but where you 'draw' your pattern sequences for each sound. Multiple patterns (clips?) can be sequenced within a single project and these then triggered to create a … [Read more...]

fluXpad update – MoMinstruments add some tweaks to their left-field take on a sample-based sequencer

I posted a full review of fluXpad when it was first released and it is perhaps most easily summarised as a sample-based sequencing environment. Of course, at it is from the Mouse On Mars team, fluXpad does come with a typical MoM twist; you  'draw' your pattern sequences for each sound. Multiple patterns (clips?) can be sequenced within a single project and these then triggers to create a full performance. As shown in the screenshots, given the 'drawing' element, the UI can look a little like a … [Read more...]

Patterning update – Olympia Noise Co tweak their Ableton Live export in their brilliant iOS drum machine app

As most regular Music App Blog readers will be aware, I'm a bit of a fan of what developer Olympia Noise Co do with their iOS music apps. Chordion, Ondes and dot Melody are well worth checking out. However, as I commented when originally reviewing the app, Ben Kamen and the team at Olympia Noise Co toped the lot with their Patterning: Drum Machine. There are some fabulous iOS drum/groove apps available but Patterning is absolutely one of my favourite iOS music apps whatever category we happen to … [Read more...]

Igor Vasiliev SALE – all Igor’s iOS music apps on limited-time sale

Regular readers here will be very familiar with indie developer Igor Vasiliev and his excellent range of iOS music apps. These include Master Record, Audio Mastering, AltiSpace and Master FX, all of which I have reviewed previously here on the blog. Igor has also released the interesting, excellent, and just a bit mad, SoundScaper and FieldScaper apps - two sound design toolkits in an app format - and that more experimental iOS music makers (oh, and sound designers!) have been having a lot of … [Read more...]

Happy Holidays! – another round of iOS music app bargains :-)

Well, Black Friday has come and gone....  but, if you still have a little bit of flexibility in your flexible friend then the seasonal holiday/New Year period is now upon us and, whether Christmas is a festival where you are or not, it certainly seems like a time that many app developers (and, frankly, almost anyone that sells anything!) will have a bargain to offer you. I've already mentioned a few of this in individual posts but, as more get added (and I suspect they will), then I'll try to … [Read more...]

Modstep SALE – AppBC’s iOS MIDI sequencer for iPad ON SALE

Regular iOS music makers will be familiar with AppBC as the developer behind Studiomux and Modstep apps. The latter includes some of the Studiomux technology but also offers a fully-blown MIDI sequencer with both step sequencing and piano roll editing environments. If your music making revolves around MIDI, rather than audio recording, then Modstep is a powerful option for sequencing on your iPad. I did a full review of Modstep just after it was launched and the feature set is impressive. You … [Read more...]

Cubasis SALE – holiday sale for Steinberg’s brilliant iOS DAW/sequencer

Cubasis is, for my money, the best 'all round' DAW/sequencer we currently have under iOS and, while Auria Pro most certainly provides a more desktop-style feature set, Cubasis offers a slick interface and a well focused feature set that lets you get on with the core tasks of recording and mixing audio/MIDI music productions. And, as I reported a few months ago, Steinberg released v.2.0 of Cubasis (and Cubasis LE) recently bring a range of excellent new features in an update that was free to all … [Read more...]

Korg SALE – all Korg apps STILL ON SALE including Gadget, iM1 and Module

Korg have certainly made quite a splash with their iOS music apps over the couple of years. In Gadget, they have a 'best in class' all-in-one electronic music production app and, since its initial release, have added  extra 'gadgets' and other new features to make it even better. Then came Korg Module - probably the best sample-based virtual instrument now available for iOS - and demonstrating just how good an iPad can sound. Both of these app made my own personal 'top ten iOS music apps of … [Read more...]
