Cubasis double giveaway results – 5 winners of Steinberg’s brilliant Cubasis and 5 winners of the Classic Machines IAP

As regular readers here will know, I'm a bit of a Cubasis fan. Cubasis offers a slick interface and a well focused feature set that lets you get on with the core tasks of recording and mixing audio/MIDI music productions. And, as a Cubase user on the desktop, for me at least, Cubasis makes a perfect platform for capturing initial ideas that can then easily be moved across to the desktop if they make the grade as something worth developing further. A personal opinion I know but, for me, Cubasis … [Read more...]

Quantiloop giveaway results – 3 winners of stompbox-style looper app from Stephan Marx

While live performance using some sort of looping device has become much more mainstream over recent years, it is still perhaps a niche activity. As such, it is perhaps a bit surprising that we have quite so many looper-style apps available on the App Store as we do. Daddy of them all is, of course, Loopy HD, but there are other excellent contenders for your money including Loopr, Voice Jam Studio, LooperSonic, LoopTree, Group The Loop and Ostinator. And, recently released - and reviewed … [Read more...]

Moodscaper giveaway results – 5 winners of iOS soundscape creation app

Whatever your personal take on Rob Jackson's Moodscaper app - which I reviewed when it was first released - you can't accuse Rob of slacking when it comes to development of the app and regular updates. The latest of these arrived on the App Store a few days ago brings the app to v.1.9.8. As suggested by the name, Moodscaper is a sort of soundscape creation tool so, if you like to create atmospheric or ambient sound textures, it might well appeal. Priced at just UK£2.99/US$3.99, the app … [Read more...]

fluXpad giveaway results – 5 winners of left-field a sample-based sequencer from MoM

I posted a review of fluXpad - the latest release from the Mouse On Mars team - last week here on the blog. Developed by MoM in collaboration with Jan T.v. Falkenstein, and Oliver Greschke helping out with promotion. MoM describe fluXpad as a sample-based sequencer but where you 'draw' your pattern sequences for each sound. Multiple patterns (clips?) can be sequenced within a single project and these then triggered to create a full performance. As shown in the screenshots, given the 'drawing' … [Read more...]

FieldScaper and SoundScaper giveaway results – 5 winners of Igor Vasiliev’s iOS sound design apps

I've reviewed a number of Igor Vasiliev's iOS music apps here on the blog including Audio Mastering, AltiSpace, Master FX, Master Record and SoundScaper  All these apps are excellent and deliver excellent performance combined with equally excellent value for money in a straightforward, no fuss, fashion. SoundScaper was  bit of a departure from the more conventional audio effects processing apps Igor had previously released but it proved very popular with sound designers and more experimental … [Read more...]

Funk Drummer giveaway results – three winners of funky drum app from Luis Martinez

I’ve covered a whole bunch of different drum, percussion and groove-based apps here on the Music App Blog over the last couple of years. However, if you are after a straightforward take on ‘rock’ drums where the results are pretty much instant and song construction requires no pattern programming, then you would be hard pressed to find something better than Rock Drum Machine by developer Luis Martinez from Lumbeat. Luis also has his Afro Latin Drum Machine 2, Brazilian Drum Machine and Soft … [Read more...]

Tessitura Pro giveaway results – 5 winners of sophisticated music theory app for iOS from mDecks Music

When it comes to iOS music apps on the App Store, it’s not all about synths, drum machines and DAWs; there are a good number of iOS music apps that could broadly fall into the ‘utility‘ category and I’ve looked at some of them here on the Music App Blog. I reviewed the new app from Ariel Ramos’ mDecks Music development team - Tessitura Pro - and which definitely falls into this category. Tessitua Pro offers a comprehensive environment within which to study and practice almost any aspect of … [Read more...]

ScalePlay giveaway results – 5 winners of iOS music education meets generative musical instrument app

Regular iOS music app geeks will be familiar with RoGame through their Qunicy app but Arthur Roolfs and the RoGame development team now have a new iOS music app to tempt us with; ScalePlay. I reviewed ScalePlay a week or so ago. It is an iPad-only app that actually fulfils three different roles. First, it could be seen as a tool for musical education where, if you happen to play guitar, bass, violin, banjo, cello, double bass, mandolin, piano or viola, ScalePlay can help you develop some … [Read more...]

AUM giveaway results – 3 winners of Jonatan Liljedahl’s brilliant iOS mixer/host app

Summer is here (well, it is if you happen to live in the Northern hemisphere) and, alongside the better weather comes a slow-down in pretty much everything as folks take whatever well-deserved break they can manage. This is most certainly true of the music tech industry....  July and August tend to be periods of little or no news of real note. And it is also true of the Music App Blog as I'm hoping to get a few days down time with my family over the next week or so. However, I don't want … [Read more...]
