Apple news – new iPads, new iOS and new iMacs

As any die-hard iOS musician will be aware, Apple held one of its super-slick launch events yesterday - WWDC17 from the San Jose Convention Centre - with Tim Cook and the crew taking us through a number of new Apple product enhancements. I must admit that, this time around, I didn't watch it 'live' but waited until I could work my way through the 2 hour+ presentation at my own speed (and skip through the bits that were of less personal interest). Like all these Apple events, it was … [Read more...]

Hello (again)…..

Well that was an 'interesting' 10 days..... Humble apologies for the interruption to normal service but, for reasons initially beyond my control, and then for technical reasons it took me a few additional days to get my head around, the Music App Blog went AWOL for a while. Hopefully, having now shouted at it a lot, it has leant its lesson, has come running back to blog HQ, and will behave itself (for a while at least).... Without wishing to burden you with the full details of web hosting … [Read more...]

News from NAMM – iOS-related news from the annual trade show – part 3

The NAMM show kicked off in California on Thursday and, as usual, amongst all the more generic music technology news, announcements and launches, there has also been some related stuff. Some of the specific things that have really caught my eye I'll post separate news items about (such as the official launches of the Casio CZ app and UVI's BeatHawk) but I thought it would be interesting to provide at least some headlines for a few other things that might be of interest to the iOS musician. iOS music app updates – more apps updated for iOS8

I've posted about a few of my personal favourite iOS music apps that have been updated over the last few days - mainly to provide support for iOS8 - but there are lots of other popular music apps that have also been updated but that I have not got around to mentioning. Anyway, while this is by no means exhaustive, here's a few more you might want to take a look at.... Developer Jonatan Liljedahl may be best know for his brilliant Sector and AUFX audio effects apps but he is also behind the … [Read more...]
