Samplebot updated – new sample-based music app from Michael Tyson gets some tweaks

Michael Tyson will be well known to iOS music makers. He is part of iOS history with his involvement in Audiobus and, with Loopy HD under his own A Tasty Pixel development label, he has produced one of the most iconic demonstrations of just what iOS can do in terms of creative music making. A couple of weeks ago, we saw the launch of Michael's latest iOS music app offering; Samplebot. As the title suggests, this is a sample-based music creation app but, as you might expect given Michael's … [Read more...]

Samplebot launched – new sample-based music app from Michael Tyson/A Tasty Pixel

He is part of iOS history with his involvement in Audiobus and, with Loopy HD under his own A Tasty Pixel development label, he has produced one of the most iconic demonstrations of just what iOS can do in terms of creative music making. And today (slightly ahead of schedule apparently) sees the launch of Michael's latest iOS music app offering; Samplebot. As the title suggests, this is a sample-based music creation app but, as you might … [Read more...]

Loopr update – looper app for iOS from Tristan Zand gets some tweaks

Creating live performances using loops recorded on the fly is quite an art form but you only have to witness a well-honed performance by a beatboxer or solo musician to realise the creative possibilities. Essentially, this involves recording loops as you go, playing back a first loop while you overdub a second, third or fourth (and so on) and then dropping loops in and out of the mix to build up your performance. There is dedicated hardware available for doing this (Boss and Digitech make … [Read more...]

Loopy HD update – more tweaks to Michael Tyson’s classic iOS looper app

It's a bit of a quiet day in terms of iOS music app updates today but one of my personal longstanding favourite apps - Loopy HD - has received a minor refresh by developer Michael Tyson. If you have been a regular here for a while you will also be familiar with developer Michael Tyson's vblog over the last year or so about the development of the 'next' evolution of Loopy HD into … [Read more...]

Loopy HD update – Michael Tyson’s classic iOS looper app gets more sharing options

Loops have become an integral part of modern music making. There is, of course, a big difference between using a few audio 'loops' and approaching your music making via a 'looper'. The latter is, however, an interesting experience if you have not tried it and, under iOS, despite the fact that there is now some very good competition (LoopTree, for example), my personal longstanding favourite for this method of music making is Loopy HD. I'm not alone here....  Loopy is a hugely popular app and … [Read more...]

Loopy Masterpiece – Michael Tyson posts a further video with more details of new app in development

I don't know about you but I'm really enjoying the video diary from Michael Tyson about the development process for his 'app-in-development' - Loopy Masterpiece. Michael is also obviously enjoying the process and is getting some useful feedback from potential users about his current plans and the various design choices he has already described. Michael has promised to post regular updates so I'll simply embed the new videos here as and when they appear with the most recent one shown at the … [Read more...]
