StepPolyArp update – Laurent Colson brings iOS9 support to his arpeggiator app

I've mentioned my fondness for arpeggiators on the blog on a number of occasions - a fondness that stems from my less-than-stellar keyboard skills - which kind of makes it even more embarrassing that I've never got around to reviewing the excellent StepPolyPad app from Laurent Colson. Laurent is also the developer behind ChordPolyPad. That is an app I've featured here on the blog on a number of occasions and it is absolutely one of my favourite MIDI performance apps. It is very well featured … [Read more...]

Aside from being overworked and underpaid, my only real excuse is that Laurent's app has been around on the App Store way longer than the Music App Blog has been in existence :-) Laurent is, however, the … [Read more...]

ChordPolyPad giveaway – 20 copies of MIDI chord generator app up for grabs

I reviewed the ChordPolyPad app here on the Music App Blog last week. Given my less-than-brilliant keyboard skills, apps like ChordPolyPad have always interested me as they provide a viable alternative for getting basic MIDI chord sequences into my synths or recording software (on my iPad or my desktop computer). And while there are a number of other iOS apps that can now be used for this function (like Chordion, SoundPrism Pro and Synthecaster, for example), ChordPolyPad is most definitely … [Read more...]

ChordPolyPad review – MIDI chord generator app from Laurent Colson

As I’ve confessed on these pages a number of times, my keyboard skills leave a lot to be desired. When you combine that with the rather slippery beast that is a touchscreen virtual piano keyboard, without a little help, the MIDI parts I create require rather more editing than a Wolf Of Wall Street cut designed for pre-school viewers - which is to say, too much editing given the state of the art for MIDI editing under iOS (best described as basic). All of which leads to my interest in apps … [Read more...]
