Korg Nano series releases – new Nano series devices with Bluetooth support under iOS

Korg not only make some great iOS music apps such as Gadget, Module, iM1, iMS-20 or iDS-10, but they also make some mobile-friendly hardware suitable for use with desktop and iOS systems. This has included the 'Nano' range of ultra-compact MIDI keyboards and MIDI controllers and, while there might not perhaps be classed as 'professional' level kit that would survive lots of rough 'n' ready handling, they are compact, ridiculously cheap and, treated with care, do a very good job. Korg has just … [Read more...]

Korg updates – Gadget and Module updated, SALE pricing and Module for iPhone

Korg have certainly made quite an impact with their various iOS music apps. Gadget is their brilliant all-in-one electronic music production app, while Module is probably the best sample-based virtual instrument now available for iOS, and integrates well with Module so you can access the high-quality sample-based sounds of Module within some of Gadget's 'gadgets'. No, they are not the cheapest iOS music apps that you will ever buy but this is top -notch software at a pretty competitive … [Read more...]

iElectribe for iPhone launched – Korg bring the Electribe concept to your phone

If you have inhabited the iOS music making space over the last couple of years then you will already be familiar with Korg's heavyweight presence. In Gadget, Module and iM1, they have three of the best iOS music apps we have seen in recent times. However, Korg have a longer track record than that in iOS and apps such as iMS-20 or iKaossilator, while perhaps lacking the current profile of the apps mentioned earlier, are still very popular in their own right. One further app in this category is … [Read more...]

Borderlands Granular updated – v.2.0 hits the App Store 30 months after the original release

If you are a bit of an iOS music app addict then you might well have been aware of the 'coming soon...' status of Borderlands Granular as developer Chris Carlson has been sharing some information about the upcoming release via various social media outlets and on the app's website. Anyway, Borderlands Granular v.2.0 has hit the App Store today and will, I suspect, be something that iOS synth-heads and sound designers will find very interesting and quite possibly difficult to resist, whether … [Read more...]

Korg Module updated – high-quality IOS sound module gets some tweaks

Korg have an impressive array of iOS music apps available on the App Store. I use a number of these on a regular basis with Gadget perhaps being my favourite. However, they are all excellent and I'm also a big fan of the iMS-20 and iKaosillator. However, their most recent addition - Korg Module - caused just as much of a stir as Gadget when it was released in November last year. If you need to catch up,  I did a full review of Module and the two additional IAP expansion packs just after its … [Read more...]

Korg Module launched – new high-quality IOS sound module hits the App Store with launch pricing

Korg already have an impressive array of iOS music apps available on the App Store. I use a number of these on a regular basis with Gadget perhaps being my favourite. However, they are all excellent and I'm also a big fan of the iMS-20 and iKaosillator. Anyway, as Korg announced a week or so ago, their next iOS offering was to be Korg Module for iPad, a 'sound module' app that, initially at least, looks like it will focus of a particular range of keyboard sounds but do those at very high … [Read more...]

Korg updates – all iOS music apps, including Gadget, get iOS8 support

I've a number of Korg's music apps that I use on a regular basis with Gadget perhaps being my favourite. However, they are all excellent and I'm also a big fan of the iMS-20 and iKaosillator. Anyway, while we have seen a lot of iOS music app updates turning up in the App Store over the last few weeks, there are still some to arrive. And, in one fell swoop, yesterday saw the arrival of several more thanks to Korg. Yep, all their collection of iOS music apps were updated and, while there are … [Read more...]

Korg sale – all iOS music apps, including Gadget, on limited-time sale

I've a number of Korg's music apps that I use on a regular basis with Gadget perhaps being my favourite. However, they are all excellent and I'm also a big fan of the iMS-20 and iKaosillator. Anyway, if you fancy getting a bit of a Korg-shapped bargain, currently all of their apps on a limited time sale and, with prices up to 50% off in some cases, this is a good time to take the plunge. I reviewed Gadget when it was first released at the start of the year and posted earlier today about the … [Read more...]

Gadget update – Korg adds two new IAP gadgets in ‘Santa Clara’ release

Korg's Gadget - their all-in-one electronic music production app - caused quite a stir when it was launched at the NAMM show back in January. Korg have released a couple of updates since and, arriving today on the App Store, was v.1.0.3 - code named Santa Clara - and introducing some new features. In terms of workflow perhaps the most welcome addition is the ability to work in landscape mode as opposed to just portrait mode. If you are working with Gadget alongside other iOS music apps … [Read more...]
