Korg SALE still on – Korg’s mega iOS music apps still ON SALE including Gadget

I posted a full review of the v.3.0 release of Gadget for iOS a couple of weeks ago here on the Music App Blog. The new audio recording support is impressive and the fact that many features new to v.3 were supplied to existing users as a free update was also an impressive gesture from Korg.   The iOS update was, of course, timed to co-incide with the release of Gadget for OSX. Yes, I promised a review of that also...  and it is coming (but first I've got to convince my wife that I've … [Read more...]

Gadget 3.0 review – audio recording the highlight in Korg’s mega iOS electronic music production tool update

When Korg first released Gadget in 2014, I think it is fair to say that they pretty much smashed it. The app bought a combination of a novel approach, a format that suited iOS beautifully (in terms of features vs ease of use), a very slick UI and an eclectic mix of included virtual instruments - gadgets - that added up to an instant hit. Gadget was a shoe-in for my own personal 'iOS music app of the year' in 2014. What is also bought almost from day 1, was a promise from Korg to add audio … [Read more...]

Gadget news – Korg announce slight delay to Mac Gadget release date

I generally don't do too many 'coming soon....' items here on the Music App Blog as I'd rather wait until something is actually available. However, occasionally, something particular catches my attention.... And, as I posted a few weeks ago, Korg most certainly caught my (and lots of other I suspect) attention with their pre-NAMM announcement that Gadget was coming to OSX. When it comes to 'all-in-one' electronic music production apps available for iOS, Korg's Gadget is one of best options … [Read more...]

Gadget news – Korg announce Mac version of their mega iOS electronic music production tool

I generally don't do too many 'coming soon....' items here on the Music App Blog as I'd rather wait until something is actually available. However, occasionally, something particular catches my attention.... And as I'm a bit of a Gadget fan, Korg's announcement that their flagship iOS electronic music production system is about to be ported over to OSX/Mac did make me sit up and take notice. When it comes to 'all-in-one' electronic music production apps available for iOS, Korg's Gadget is … [Read more...]

Korg SALE – all Korg apps STILL ON SALE including Gadget, iM1 and Module

Korg have certainly made quite a splash with their iOS music apps over the couple of years. In Gadget, they have a 'best in class' all-in-one electronic music production app and, since its initial release, have added  extra 'gadgets' and other new features to make it even better. Then came Korg Module - probably the best sample-based virtual instrument now available for iOS - and demonstrating just how good an iPad can sound. Both of these app made my own personal 'top ten iOS music apps of … [Read more...]

ARP ODYSSEi update – Korg ‘tune’ their excellent iOS Odyssey emulation

In the wider world of music technology, Korg are undoubtedly one of the big-hitter brands. Over the last few years, they have bought that strong reputation and undoubted expertise to bear in the iOS music app market place. Earlier apps such as iKaossilator, iPolysix and iMS-20 showed great promise but more recent apps such as Gadget, Module and iM1 have pretty much knocked it out the park. In it’s own way, each is brilliant and, while these are apps at the upper end of the iOS music app … [Read more...]

iWaveStation review – Korg bring another classic synth to the iOS platform

Korg are undoubtedly a leading brand in the world of music technology and that expertise and brand has very much embraced what iOS has to offer over recent years. Earlier apps such as iKaossilator, iPolysix and iMS-20 showed great promise but more recent apps such as Gadget, Module, iM1 and, most recently, ARP ODYSSEi, have most certainly made a significant impact in what is now a very healthy and competitive market place (if perhaps not one that is always financially sustainable for all … [Read more...]

iWaveStation launched – Korg bring another classic synth to the iOS platform

It's only a few weeks since Korg launched the very impressive ARP ODYSSEi synth on iOS....  a software recreation of the classic ARP Odyessy analog synth from the 1970s. iOS synth-heads have lapped the ODYSSEi up in their droves and it is still available at the discounted launch price of just UK£14.99/US$19.99. However, I don't think the development team at Korg have been putting their feet up and lighting a early Xmas cigar in the mean-time as a further new mega-synth app has now arrived. As … [Read more...]
