AmpliTube updated – new amps/effects added for free and new fender Collection 2 IAP

IK Multimedia are one of the developers who have consistently made a big push with iOS and they have some pretty impressive iOS music apps in their catalogue, some of which are also available for the Android platform. AmpliTube is their 'virtual guitar rig' app and it was one of the first apps I reviewed for the Music App Blog. As I mentioned back in May 2015, IK Multimedia launched a major revamp with v.4 of AmpliTube for iOS, with a new processing engine but maintaining backwards … [Read more...]

iRig Nano Amp review – IK Multimedia deliver an iOS-friendly pocket guitar amp

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago when reviewing IK Multimedia’s new iRig Acoustic Stage acoustic guitar pickup system, the company also announced a couple of other iOS-friendly hardware products at the recent NAMM show. These included the up-coming iRig Pro I/O (a follow up to the very popular original iRig Pro) and the iRig Nano Amp. The latter is now with us and a review unit arrived through my mailbox a few days ago. So, if you like the idea of a pocket-sized amp to use with your … [Read more...]

iRig Acoustic Stage review – IK Multimedia revamp their acoustic guitar pickup system

While the winter NAMM show was, as usual, dominated by guitars and drum and keyboards and desktop music technology, tucked away in the corners were a number of items that would obviously appeal to the iOS-based musician. For example, IK Multimedia – one of the more prominent supporters of the mobile musician – had a few new things to announce. These included the up-coming iRig Pro I/O (a follow up to the very popular original iRig Pro) and the iRig Nano Amp (a pocket-sized amp for your iOS-based … [Read more...]

IK Multimedia sale – up to 75% off across the IKM iOS music app catalogue

As I've mentioned before, I'm not sure anyone really understands just how the App Store pricing model is supposed to work in the long term. The prices work very much in favour of the purchaser and their are some real software bargains to be had amongst the iOS music app category. However, if you are still in the process of building an app collection, things can get even better when sale time arrives... as it does on a regular basis. At this time, we obviously have Black Friday a few weeks … [Read more...]

Mic Room sale – IK Multimedia’s mic simulation app currently at a bargain price

IK Multimedia are one of the more active mainstream music technology manufacturers within the world of mobile music making. I've reviewed a number of their apps in the past (for example, AmpliTube and VocaLive) and, subject of this post, Mic Room. Mic Room (and the similar MicSwap app from Future Moments, although this does do room modelling also) have bought 'microphone modelling' technology that has been around on the desktop for some time (one of the better known of these products for the … [Read more...]

iRig HD 2 review – IK Multimedia raise the iOS guitar interface bar

At times, IK Multimedia have had their share of detractors amongst the iOS music making community (most notably for their use of in-app ads but, thankfully, this is criticism they have responded to) but they are certainly a company that has embraced the iOS platform full-on. The R&D costs of developing software for a relatively new platform are considerable yet IKM have produced a number of very creditable music apps, AmpliTube, SampleTank, VocaLive, iGrand and iLectric amongst them. … [Read more...]

iLoud Micro Monitor announced – IK Multimedia launch ‘the smallest studio reference monitors in the world’

IK Multimedia are one of the mainstream music technology companies that have fully embraced iOS as a music-making platform. As well as making some very good apps (many of which I've reviewed here on the Music App Blog), they also make hardware aimed at the iOS musician. This includes devices such as the original iRig audio interface (that launched many guitar players in the the wonders of iPhone/iPad amp modelling) through to more recent products such as the iRig Duo, iRig Mic Lav, iRig Keys Pro … [Read more...]

Lurssen Mastering Console released – IK Multimedia bring boutique mastering app to iOS

Timed to coincide with the NAMM 2016 winter show, IK Multimedia have launched a new iOS music app; the Lurssen Mastering Console. As the name suggests, this is an audio mastering tool and, while it is available for iOS now, there is also Win/OSX versions on the way and currently available for pre-order. As I've commented here a number of times before, mastering is a bit of a black art and, without the right tools, right ears, a good acoustic environment to work in.... oh, and 25+ years … [Read more...]

AmpliTube Acoustic update – IK Multimedia tweak their acoustic guitar amp modelling app

IK Multimedia will need little by way of introduction to most iOS music makers and their catalogue of both software and hardware products aimed at the iOS musician is an impressive one. I’ve reviewed a good number of their products here on the Music App Blog over the last few years and the most recent items were the iRig Acoustic mic/pickup system and the AmpliTube Acoustic software, both designed (surprise, surprise!) with acoustic guitar players in mind. I was suitably impressed with the … [Read more...]
