Navichord giveaway results – 10 winners of iOS chord/harmony exploration app

I did a full review of Navichord here on the Music App Blog some time ago but, as I've also posted more recently, the app had had a whole series of updates since launch and has considerably expanded upon its feature set as a consequence. These included the most recent update - to v.2.5.0 - just a few days ago that added further new features such as improved preset saving, new colour themes and improved pad editing features. While the original release was designed to do one job – it allowed … [Read more...]

Quantiloop giveaway – 5 copies of stompbox-style looper app from Stephan Marx to be won

Quantiloop was released just about six months ago - and reviewed here on the Music App Blog - and provides a very impressive addition to the cluster of looper-style apps that are available under iOS (for example, Loopy HD, Loopr, Voice Jam Studio, LooperSonic, LoopTree, Group The Loop and Ostinator). Stephan Marx has bought a distinctive retro design that looks very 'hardware' in nature and, as this gives the app a very distinctive feel and mode of operation, I suspect it will give it … [Read more...]

Modstep giveaway – five copies of AppBC’s iOS MIDI sequencer for iPad to be won

As I posted yesterday, AppBC delivered a further update to Modstep - their fully-blown MIDI sequencer with both step sequencing and piano roll editing environments - bringing a number of maintenance-style fixes to what really is a very sophistcated sequencing platform. If your music making revolves around MIDI, rather than audio recording, then Modstep is a powerful option for sequencing on your iPad. I did a full review of Modstep just after it was launched and the feature set is impressive. … [Read more...]

Vatanator SX giveaway – five copies of Georgi Georiev’s streamlined iPhone drum machine to be won

I’ve reviewed a whole range of different drum and groove apps for the blog over the last few years. These comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes and, within any iOS musician’s app collection, there is most certainly room for a number of these tools as, across the whole range, they offer different features, functions and approaches to working. One recent release in this category is Vatanator. This is the first app by developer Georgi Georgiev and I did a full review of the app on the blog soon … [Read more...]

midiSTEPs giveaway results – 5 winners of beautifully designed four-part iOS MIDI sequencer

I reviewed midiSTEPs on the blog just after it was released. There is some considerable iOS pedigree behind midiSTEPs as the developer is Art Kerns who will be well known to regular iOS musicians through apps such as midiLFOs and Funkbox, both of which I’ve reviewed here on the Music App Blog in the past. MidiSTEPs, at one level, is a fairly conventional step-based pattern sequencer with patterns featuring up to 64 steps (with control over step-length relative to the musical grid) and you can … [Read more...]

Ops giveaway results – five winners of Jonathan MacKenzie’s new iOS modular synth

I make this confession regularly on the blog – I’m no great expert when it comes to synth programming – and such a confession is all the more apt when we are taking about not just programming synths but actually designing your own synth from scratch. Yes, modular synths, of which we have a good few examples available under iOS, are something that are, at any detailed level, well out of my comfort zone. That doesn’t mean I’m not interested though and I reviewed an excellent new modular synth … [Read more...]
