Flora Series giveaway results – three winners of bundles of the ‘flora’ iOS audio effect apps

As I've posted over the last few weeks, all of the 'Flora Series' apps from Timothy Barraclough and Paul Mathews have been updated to a v.2.0 status, with the highlight new feature being support for the AUv.3 plugin format. This whole series of apps are absolutely ideal for the AU format; each does a single, simple, job, they come with a compact set of controls and, even by iOS standards, they are available at a bargain price of just UK£1.99/US$1.99 each. If you regularly use a suitable AU … [Read more...]

Cubasis giveaway results – 5 winners of Steinberg’s brilliant Cubasis

As regular readers here will know, I'm a bit of a Cubasis fan. Cubasis offers a slick interface and a well focused feature set that lets you get on with the core tasks of recording and mixing audio/MIDI music productions. And, as a Cubase user on the desktop, for me at least, Cubasis makes a perfect platform for capturing initial ideas that can then easily be moved across to the desktop if they make the grade as something worth developing further. A personal opinion I know but, for me, Cubasis … [Read more...]

Layr giveaway results – two winners of Living Memory Software’s excellent multi-timbral synth app

If you are an iOS music maker with a bit of a synth habit, then you will already be well aware of Living Memory's new iOS mega-synth Layr. The app was released a couple of weeks ago and has been widely praised and, I suspect, helped to brake more than a few 'I don't need any more iOS synths' promises that folks had made to themselves. I reviewed the app a week or so ago here on the Music App Blog....  and, in short, the potential is obvious and, as the demo videos suggest, this is an app can … [Read more...]

Quantiloop giveaway – 5 winners of stompbox-style looper app from Stephan Marx

Quantiloop was released just about six months ago - and reviewed here on the Music App Blog - and provides a very impressive addition to the cluster of looper-style apps that are available under iOS (for example, Loopy HD, Loopr, Voice Jam Studio, LooperSonic, LoopTree, Group The Loop and Ostinator). Stephan Marx has bought a distinctive retro design that looks very 'hardware' in nature and, as this gives the app a very distinctive feel and mode of operation, I suspect it will give it … [Read more...]

Modstep giveaway results – five winners of AppBC’s iOS MIDI sequencer for iPad

As I posted a few days ago, AppBC delivered a further update to Modstep - their fully-blown MIDI sequencer with both step sequencing and piano roll editing environments - bringing a number of maintenance-style fixes to what really is a very sophistcated sequencing platform. If your music making revolves around MIDI, rather than audio recording, then Modstep is a powerful option for sequencing on your iPad. I did a full review of Modstep just after it was launched and the feature set is … [Read more...]

Vatanator SX giveaway results – five winners of Georgi Georiev’s streamlined iPhone drum machine

I’ve reviewed a whole range of different drum and groove apps for the blog over the last few years. These comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes and, within any iOS musician’s app collection, there is most certainly room for a number of these tools as, across the whole range, they offer different features, functions and approaches to working. One recent release in this category is Vatanator. This is the first app by developer Georgi Georgiev and I did a full review of the app on the blog soon … [Read more...]
