DrumKick giveaway results – 5 winners of playable drum app with a bit of a kick

I first reviewed developer Mark Jeschke's DrumKick iOS music app back in July 2013 and, as I've reported on various occasions (including yesterday), the app has had a number of very useful updates since then. At its heart, DrumKick is a fairly conventional ‘virtual’ drum kit with kick, snare, hi-hat, three toms, two crash cymbals, a ride cymbal and a cow bell. The fairly conventional interface is, however, very nicely thought out and implemented with some details that make it very … [Read more...]

iFretless Brass update – Blue Mangoo’s iOS brass app gets tweaks and new sounds

I posted a full review of Blue Mangoo's excellent iFretless Brass iOS music app when it was first released back in October 2014. If you need some high-quality traditional brass sounds in your iOS music productions, then this is a pretty good way to get them. Like the equally excellent iFretless Bass, iFretless Guitar and iFretless Sax iOS music apps, iFretless Brass combines a guitar-like performance surface that allows you to add various types of performance expression (particularly slides … [Read more...]

Gumdrops giveaway results – 10 winners of beat-making drum machine app from Hanson Interactive

I did a catch-up review of the rather excellent Gumdrops a week or so ago here on the blog. This is an interesting beat-making drum machine app from developers Hanson Interactive. Priced at just UK£3.99, Gumdrops was first launched back in August 2014 and I have to admit that, at the time, I totally missed it. Having recently been nudged via an exchange with a regular reader so uses the app on a regular basis, however, I thought I’d put that right… and I’m both glad I did and a tad ticked off … [Read more...]

iFretless Brass giveaway results – one winner of Blue Mangoo’s latest release

I posted a full review of Blue Mangoo's excellent iFretless Brass iOS music app yesterday. If you need some high-quality traditional brass sounds in your iOS music productions, then this is a pretty good way to get them. Like the equally excellent iFretless Bass, iFretless Guitar and iFretless Sax iOS music apps, iFretless Brass combines a guitar-like performance surface that allows you to add various types of performance expression (particularly slides and vibrato) and a very respectable set … [Read more...]

SongSheet giveaway results

If you are a prolific songwriter or a busy covers-band gigging musician, keeping track of all those chord and lyric sheets - and arranging them into sets for gigs - can be quite a challenge. Fortunately, and as I've reviewed before on the blog, there is an app for that; SongSheet by iSharp. Gabriel Hauber of iSharp was been kind enough to provide me with five copies of SongSheet to give away for free to readers of the Music App Blog. Entries to the giveaway closed on Saturday and the winning … [Read more...]

birdStepper giveaway results

I posted a review of birdSound's new birdStepper iOS audio effects app last week. Perhaps the easiest way to describe birdStepper is as a creative multi-effects processor where the effects parameters can be modulated/automated in real-time over the course of a step-based sequence. The app is very easy to use and, with eight different effects that you can chain together, provides a huge range of creative options from audio processing. With Audiobus support from the off, it's easy to use … [Read more...]

DrumPerfect giveaway results

If you have read the full review I posted of DrumPerfect a few days ago you will know that I'm quite a fan of what this app can do. While it is perhaps not (yet at least) my own personal take on what would be the 'perfect' iOS virtual drummer, in terms of the actual sounds and performances it can produce, it is pretty darn close. If you are after programmable acoustic drums that sound 'real', for us iOS musicians, I think DrumPerfect is currently the best the App Store has to offer. Well, … [Read more...]

Z3TA+ giveaway results

I was hugely impressed with Cakewalk's Z3TA+ iOS synth app when I reviewed it earlier this week. In terms of both sound and depth of programming, the Z3TA+ is up there with the very best of the iOS synth world. You might not 'need' this app if you already own the likes of Nave or Thor, but you sure as heck are going to 'want' it. Well, thanks for the generosity of Jimmy Landry at Cakewalk, one lucky Music App Blog reader can now get hold of a copy of Z3TA+ for free. Entries closed yesterday … [Read more...]

ChordPolyPad giveaway results

I reviewed the ChordPolyPad app here on the Music App Blog last week. Given my less-than-brilliant keyboard skills, apps like ChordPolyPad have always interested me as they provide a viable alternative for getting basic MIDI chord sequences into my synths or recording software (on my iPad or my desktop computer). Thanks to the generosity of developer Laurent Colson, I had 20 copies of the app to give away. Entries closed yesterday and the winning names were drawn at random out of the hat this … [Read more...]
