ScalePlay update – RoGame add further fine-tuning to their educational/generative iOS music app

I reviewed ScalePlay back in August 2016 and was happy to give a warm 'thumbs up' to RoGame and Arthur Roolfs for creating an interesting iOS music app that offers three distinct functions. First, it could be seen as a tool for musical education where, if you happen to play guitar, bass, violin, banjo, cello, double bass, mandolin, piano or viola, ScalePlay can help you develop some personalised scale-based exercises that would, with practice, undoubtedly improve your command of your … [Read more...]

Moodscaper update – iOS soundscape creation app gets some further tweaks

Whatever your personal take on Rob Jackson's Moodscaper app - which I reviewed when it was first released - you can't accuse Rob of slacking when it comes to development of the app and regular updates. The latest of these arrived on the App Store yesterday and brings the app to v.1.9.9. Oh, and Rob has also released Pianoscaper, built on the same principles/interface as Moodscaper but with a greater emphasis of piano type sound sources....  although it is still very much in the abstract/ambient … [Read more...]

As I reported a couple of days ago, Rob has now released a further generative music app; Pianoscaper. Unsurprisingly, the concept is identical to Moodscaper but, in this case, the source sounds originated from acoustic … [Read more...]
