Echo Pitch review – versatile and creative delay effect app at a budget price

Running the Music App Blog as a one person enterprise alongside my other forms of gainful employment does mean that there are never quite enough hours in the day to keep up with all the interesting new iOS music app releases. When time does permit, therefore, it’s nice to do the occasional ‘catch up’ review…. and that’s what I’ve got for you today in Echo Pitch :-) The app is developed by Avi Bortnick and Maximos Kaliakatsos-Papakostas and first appeared on the App Store back in December … [Read more...]

AudioEffX review – VirSyn add a mult-effects option to their iOS music app line-up

VirSyn are one of the software developers that have fully embraced the iOS platform. They have gradually developed a very impressive catalogue of iOS music apps many or which - Tera Synth, microTERA, Harmony Voice, Addictive Synth, Tap Delay, Emo Chorus, Posiedon Synth, Voxsyn and Arpeggist, for example - I've reviewed here previously on the Music App Blog. Most the apps listed above feature a suite of audio effects as part of their overall feature set. These cover what is perhaps best … [Read more...]

RF-1 review – Numerical Audio add an AU reverb to their iOS music app catalogue

As I mentioned a few days ago, Numerical Audio - led by Kai Aras - have released a new iOS music app. The app, called RF-1, is a follow-up to the RP-1  that I reviewed here of the Music App Blog when it was first launched a few months ago. RP-1 provides a compact, but well-featured, delay effect and is capable of both conventional and more creative treatments. As well s a modest price (just UK£4.49/US$5.99) and stand-alone, Audiobus and IAA support, RP-1 also included both Ableton Link (tempo … [Read more...]

RP-1 update – Kai Aras brings some fixes to his iOS delay app

I did a couple of audio effects/processor app rounds articles a while ago here on the Music App Blog. It is a category that we have some excellent offerings within whether you are looking for more conventional processing options or more creative ‘out there’ effects. However, given the budget pricing of many iOS music apps, and given the fact that, until the AU format becomes more widely adopted, you are limited to a single instance of each music app running at any one time, there is certainly no … [Read more...]

M/S Proc review – compact mid-side processing app for iOS from ART Teknika

I posted a review of ART Teknika’s first iOS music app release – the convolution reverb app iConvolver – earlier this week. I was suitably impressed with the app and, while it obviously faces some well-established competition (for example, in AltiSpace), it does a good job and the user-interface is simple to use. It is also currently available of a 50% off launch pricing of just UK£2.99/US$3.99. Really? A convolution reverb for the price of a large, high-street, coffee? No, I don’t understand … [Read more...]
