Music Studio giveaway – 5 copies of Xewton’s iOS DAW/sequencer to be won

As I posted a few days ago, Music Studio from Xewton has received a fairly substantial update this week including now becoming available to users on the Android platform. The iOS app has been around on the App Store since 2010, way before the Music App Blog came into being, but it has always struck me as a very functional recording platform. Currently priced at UK£10.99/US$14.99, it allows both audio and MIDI recording/editing in up to 127 tracks (although I suspect most iOS devices might … [Read more...]

Music Studio updated – Xewton tweak their iOS DAW/sequencer and bring Android support

While I'm happy to admit to being a confirmed Cubasis user for my own iOS DAW/sequencer needs (it makes sense for me as I also use Cubase on my desktop), it is far from the only option when it comes to this class of iOS music app. One such alternative is Music Studio from Xewton and developer Alexander Gross. The app has been around on the App Store since 2010, way before the Music App Blog came into being, but it has always struck me as a very functional recording platform. Cubasis music app updated – Steinberg release v.1.6 of their iOS DAW

Steinberg have released v.1.6 of their Cubasis music app today and the this version includes some excellent new features. Top of the list are some fairly significant developments in terms of the Cubasis audio engine. This has been completely reworked to make it more efficient (for example, improving audio rendering times). However, perhaps of most interest is that, with a suitable audio interface, Cubasis now supports 24-bit audio recording as well as 16-bit. Equally, users can now choose … [Read more...]

Cubasis on sale – Steinberg apps on sale and update news

Steinberg currently have all their iOS apps on sale to coincide with the IFA trade show in Berlin. The headline is, of course, Cubasis for iPad and this has 1/3 off the normal price. If you were thinking of buying into the Cubasis DAW, the offer ends of the 11th of September, so do it now :-) Steinberg's other two iOS apps are, however, also currently reduced in price. The excellent Cubase iC Pro is also 1/3 off the regular price. I use this app all the time to control Cubase 7 on my desktop … [Read more...]

Auria update – WaveMachine Labs update their brilliant iOS DAW to v.1.10

WaveMachine Labs have released an Auria update this week to v.1.10. The Auria music app is perhaps the most sophisticated iOS DAW app currently available and, while it is an audio-only recording environment (Auria doesn’t yet support MIDI instrument tracks), v.1.10 does include MIDI Sync, MIDI support for plugin control and MIDI remote control so that you can control Auria from external DAW hardware controllers such as the Mackie HUI. Other new features include updated versions of all the … [Read more...]
