Cyclop updated – Sugar Bytes add Ableton LINK to their mono synth app

The iOS music making community got quite excited a few weeks ago with the launch of Ableton's new LINK technology that - with suitably LINK-enabled apps - allows you to synchronise the playback and tempo of various music apps in a way that ought to be possible with MIDI Clock Sync but, under iOSD at least, isn't (well, some of the time at least). LINK seems to be very solid technology within the limited number of apps that we have so far seen add the protocol...  so what we need now is simply … [Read more...]

Cyclop updated – Sugar Bytes start a round of compatibility updates?

As most long-standing iOS music makers would be expecting, there is a flurry of minor technical updates appearing on the App Store at present as developers do their best to ensure a smooth passage into iOS9 for their own particular apps. Sugar Bytes updated Cyclop in mid-September but a further update appeared on the App Store over the week-end taking the app to v.1.0.4. The notes that accompanied this particular update confirm that the Audiobus SDK has been updated along with the AudioCopy … [Read more...]

Cyclop updated – Sugar Bytes complete their iOS update set

As I posted a week or so ago, Sugar Bytes updated Turnado, Effectix, WOW Filterbox and Thesys recently. The notes that accompanied each of the updates were identical but very welcome; the Audiobus SDK has been updated and tweaks for those using multi-channel audio interfaces. Both of these tweaks are likely to mean smoother workflow when using these apps within your wider iOS music app environment. Today, an update have appeared for one of Sugar Bytes other flagship iOS music apps; Cyclop. … [Read more...]

Sugar Bytes giveaway – a mega-bundle of iOS music apps available for one lucky winner

Last week, thanks to those very nice people at Steinberg, I was able to giveaway a rather nice bundle of their iOS music apps to one lucky Music App Blog reader (and congratulations again to Jez; I know he is already enjoying using his new set of Steinberg apps). This was, without doubt, one of the most popular giveaways I've run via the blog and the only downside was that their could only be one winner.... Cyclop and Egoist updated – Sugar Bytes complete their iOS update set

Sugar Bytes have a bit of a cult following amongst desktop musicians. Their various virtual instruments and effects appeal to the more experimental electronic music producer and, whatever your own particular take on the products, the approach is always slightly left-of-centre (in a good way), always interesting, always deep (that is, there is a learning curve required) and often requires good eyesight (er… the user interfaces have a lot packed into a small space). As I posted a couple of days … [Read more...]
