AUFX Series updated – all get set for iOS8

As regular readers here will already know, I'm a bit of a fan of the iOS music apps produced by Jonatan Liljedahl under his Kymatica brand. As well and the brilliant Sector, Jonatan is also the developer behind the very impressive AUFX series of apps, a suite of audio effects apps, all available at pocket money prices but with a performance that is anything but cheap and nasty. I've reviewed AUFX:Space (a reverb), AUFX:Dub (a delay) and AUFX:PeakQ (an EQ) before on the blog and all are … [Read more...]

AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub updates

As regular readers will be aware, I'm a big fan of Jonatan's Liljedahl's AUFX series of iOS audio effects apps. Two of this series - AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub - have been updated today. AUFX:Space - a reverb effect - has reached v.1.2 and, aside for some minor bug fixes, there are also some additional things worth noted. For example, the IAA panel has been tweaked and there are now a number of additional presets included (always welcome). However, the main addition is the Swirl parameter that … [Read more...]

AUFX sale – AUFX series effects apps reduced over New Year

A few days ago I reviewed the latest addition to Jonatan's Liljedahl's excellent AUFX series of iOS effects apps; AUFX:PeakQ. As the name suggests, this is an EQ effect and what you are getting is a four band EQ, with a low and high shelf and two fully parametric bands sat between them. You can use the app within Audiobus or a suitable IAA host such as Cubasis or Auria. I’ve reviewed both AUFX:Space (a reverb effect) and AUFX:Dub (a delay effect) previously on the blog and, with Audiobus and … [Read more...]

Inter App Audio video demo using Auria, AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub

As I posted recently, WaveMachine Labs were quick off the mark to add support for Inter App Audio to Auria, their excellent iOS DAW app. While IAA support is still something of a rarity at present, I'm sure the majority of major iOS music app developers are going to get onboard with this protocol as soon as they can. The advantage of IAA really comes home when used with effects apps like AUFX:Space or AUFX:Dub as, within some limits (mainly that you can only have one instance of any app only … [Read more...]

AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub updates – extra IAA features added

As I posted recently, Kymatica have been quick to offer support for the new iOS7 inter app audio (IAA) protocol within their excellent AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub reverb and delay effects apps. Kymatic have now made available further AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub updates. As well as bringing some minor iOS7 tweaks and Audiobus improvements, the main additions are in the IAA implementation. This includes some minor bug fixes but also brings an IAA host transport panel to both apps. This operates very … [Read more...]

AUFX:Dub music app updated – new features added to iOS delay effect app

A few weeks ago I reviewed Kymatica's AUFX:Dub music app - a dedicated delay effects processor app for iOS - and part of developer Jonatan Liljedahl's AUFX series of apps (which also features the excellent AUFX:Space). AUFX:Dub is brilliant, and if you are interested in building a collection of apps for iOS recording duties, then it is well deserving of a place in your app collection. It works well with Audiobus and can be configured with either Cubasis or Auria using the DIY send effects … [Read more...]

Auria video tutorial – DIY send effects using Audiobus

Thanks to those who have been in touch about the recent Auria 'DIY send effects' tutorial post. This covered a workaround involving Audiobus that allows you to use iOS effect app such as AudioReverb, VocaLive, AUFX:Space or AUFX:Dub as a sort of ‘DIY send effect’ within Auria and included a step-by-step walkthrough illustrating how to do this (I posted a similar tutorial looking at the same workaround for Cubasis a couple of weeks ago and you can find that here). For those that prefer a … [Read more...]

DIY send effects the Auria way – using Auria, Audiobus and iOS effects apps to create DIY send effects

I’ve posted a couple of things recently on using insert and send effects as part of an iOS recording workflow. The first of these looked at the basic concepts behind insert an send effects while the second looked at how you could create a sort of ‘DIY send effect’ solution for Cubasis that allows you to use some of the excellent iOS effect apps - such as AudioReverb, VocaLive, AUFX:Space or AUFX:Dub – and apply their high quality processing after you have recorded your audio parts (vocals, … [Read more...]
