Moebius Lab update – Amazing Noises refine their multi-effect iOS music app

I've posted a couple of news items over the last week or so about updates to various apps within the Amazing Noises and apeSoft catalogs. However, if your favourite app wasn't amongst those that got an update, then over the weekend, the odds are that it did; I think that pretty much every other app in the respective 'currently active' list of these two related development teams received an identical technical update. Updates have therefore appeared for Limiter, Reverb FDN, Dedalus, Sparkle, … [Read more...]

Moebius Lab update – Amazing Noises refine their multi-effect iOS music app

I've reviewed a number of Amazing Noises' pocket-money priced – but very effective – iOS music apps on the blog. In almost all their apps - Limiter, Reverb FDN, DubFilter or Dedalus (for example) - this is a company that specialises in 'left-field'. The latest addition to the Amazing Noises catalogue is Moebius Lab which I reviewed a few weeks or so ago. It's launched with Audiobus, IAA and MIDI support, Midibus and Virtual/Network MIDI support and, at just 19MB, will squeeze into any iPad … [Read more...]

Moebius Lab review – Amazing Noises add multi-effect madness to their iOS music app lineup

I've reviewed a number of Amazing Noises' pocket-money priced – but very effective – iOS music apps on the blog. While the titles of both Limiter and Reverb FDN suggest that might offer some fairly conventional-style audio effects, I think it is a pretty safe bet that that's not really what Amazing Noises have in mind for either app; both can be a weird and often wonderful ride into the more experimental regions of audio processing. I've also looked at DubFilter (really very cool and, … [Read more...]

iOS audio effects apps roundup – Part 2; creative audio effects

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a ‘part 1’ iOS audio effects apps roundup where I focused on the more conventional audio effects that are currently available for iOS. While these were very much a personal selection, any of the choices would be obvious to most experienced iOS musicians and there are some brilliant apps to choose from; AltiSpace, VanDelay, AUFX:Dub, Caramel, Audio Mastering, Final Touch…. well, you get the idea. Classifying effects apps into ‘conventional’ and ‘creative’ types … [Read more...]

iOS audio effects apps roundup – Part 1; conventional audio effects

In the world of computer-based recording – whether that computer is a desktop, laptop or tablet – software emulations of audio effects are a key element in the overall software toolkit. Most of the popular iOS recording apps – Cubasis, Auria, Garageband and the like – include a selection of such audio effects but, as on the desktop, you can also add other – often better and/or more powerful – from 3rd party developers. These can, of course, be used via Audiobus but, equally, if IAA support is … [Read more...]

LiveFX review – creative multi-effects app from Elephantcandy

We iOS musicians have been lucky enough to see a whole range of different audio effect apps released over the last few months. I’ve reviewed some of the best of these here on the blog and, as on the desktop, audio processing tools come in a number of varieties ranging from the corrective to the more creative. Towards the more corrective end of the spectrum might be noise gates, compressors, EQ or pitch correctors, while the more creative tools might go from standard effects such as delay or … [Read more...]
