If you are not familiar with the iFretless series of apps… well… er… you probably should be. iFretless Bass is something of an iOS music app classic while iFretless Sax, iFretless Guitar and iFretless Brass take the key elements of the same excellent touchscreen performance interface and provide some of the most playable and expressive sample-based virtual instruments that are currently available for iOS.
All of the apps include MIDI, IAA and Audiobus support, are universal and will work with iOS7 or later. There are each a chunky size (200MB or more) because of the detailed sampling involved but, if you can spare the space, the quality of the sound is well worth it… as is the UK£7.99 pricing for each app (although there are various bundles available also that can produce some significant savings).
The Sax, Brass and Guitar apps have all received updates on the App Store in the last few days and all have the same descriptor so, aside from the usual round of bug-fixes, a new preset-saving feature has been added. iFretless Bass hasn’t had a similar update as yet… but I’d be surprised if it is not in Apple’s queue waiting to be approved…
Anyway, all four of the iFretless series are well worth exploring and, if you need some quality virtual instruments of the bass, guitar, brass or sax variety, these are up there with the best currently available for iOS and each represents very good value for money at their current UK£7.99 asking price.
