Elastic Drums launched – new drum app from the developers behind WretchUp

Download from iTunes App StoreElastic Drums logoIf you are a regular visitor to the Music App Blog you might well be familiar with WretchUp from developer Oliver Greschke and Mouse On Mars. WretchUp is, frankly, one of the most bonkers audio effects I’ve ever used and, if you like to transform your audio into something completely different, then it might be just the app for you.

Hot on the heels of WretchUp comes a further app from the same development team; Elastic Drums. The app is designed for iPhone but works fine on an iPad or iPod Touch and provides a synthesis-based drum machine. There are different synthesis engines included to produce different types of drum sounds and you get up to six channels, some effects and a 16-step sequencing environment for building patterns.

In the initial release, iOS8 support is included but you will have to wait a little while for Audiobus, IAA and MIDI; these are all scheduled for release in the new year. That said, the base app still looks very cool and some of the preset sounds are great.

Elastic Drums is also available at a special launch pricing of just UK£2.49 (50% off what will be the eventual price) so there may well be a financial incentive to become an early adopter :-) I’ve only had a very brief time to play but this does look like fun; full review to follow when I’ve explored further.
