BIAS FX updated – Positive Grid add Delay model import to their flagship virtual guitar rig app

Download from iTunes App Storebias fx logo 2While the world of iOS guitar rig sims is perhaps not quite so well populated as that of iOS synths, there are a few real crackers. Positive Grid’s BIAS FX is most certainly one of them. This is also a company that has taken some bold steps in branching out into hardware products and in taking their iOS software into the desktop marketplace…..  That’s not a direction that many iOS developers have had the courage to tread…. This includes the BIAS Head, a hardware-based amplifier that provides access to BIAS FX tones. This has gone down a bit of s storm with a lot of professional guitar players and is being favourable compared to the likes of the Kemper amp profiling hardware.

BIAS FX - Positive Grid's flagship iOS guitar rig sim....

BIAS FX – Positive Grid’s flagship iOS guitar rig sim….

It’s difficult to deny that Positive Grid make some brilliant iOS music apps. BIAS Amp is super-cool for the real guitar tone-heads and Final Touch is a very slick mastering tool for iOS musicians. Anyway, what is probably their flagship iOS music app – BIAS FX – has been updated to v.1.4.0.

The app links brilliantly with BIAS Amp and for iOS guitar tone-heads, the BIAS combination is undoubtedly a very tempting one…..  However, this BIAS FX update is actually related to an update in one of their other apps; BIAS Pedal. When BIAS Pedal was launched, I think it was fair to say it was very ‘niche’ as it allowed you to design your own distortion/overdrive/fuzz pedal. Those models could then be imported into BIAS FX to be used within your virtual rigs.

BIAS Pedal now includes the option to design your own delay pedals….

BIAS Pedal has, itself, been updated this week….  and the update adds a new IAP (UK£7.99/US$9.99) that now allows you to also design your own delay pedal. I’ve not had a chance to try this as yet but it does look interesting and offers some very creative options….  and, of course, with the update to BISAS FX, you can now import those BIAS Pedal delay models you create into BIAS FX also. The delay building option is free to try out but the IAP is required for the export process to function. All very cool….

As with other Positive Grid ‘virtual build’ software, you can dip into the guts of the device and customise the design as much as you want… all without the fear of blowing anything up :-)

BIAS Pedal is free to download and try out with a modestly priced ‘unlock’ IAP (UK£3.99/US$4.99) to unlock the full feature set for the distortion pedal design process. However, whether you explore stompbox construction or not, if you are just making your first steps with mobile virtual guitar rigs, BIAS FX is undoubtedly a brilliant piece of software and would be a great place to start….  You can check out the full review here but, as it is currently also available at a big discount – just UK£7.99/US$9.99 – it represents excellent value for money whether you opt for any of the additional Positive Grid options or not.
