BIAS FX updated – Positive Grid tweak iOS9 support and get ready for BT4 MIDI pedal

Download from iTunes App Storebias fx logo 2As I posted back in April, Positive Grid created a bit of a splash with their new BIAS FX app when it was first released. The app is undoubtedly a step up in terms of the processing and sound from PG’s JamUp Pro (although that is still very good in its own right) and links brilliantly with BIAS Amps. For iOS guitar tone-heads, the BIAS combination is undoubtedly a very tempting one.

The app has had a number of updates since release, adding new features and a number of IAP expansion packs. However, a further update has appeared on the App Store today – v.1.2.2 – the first post-iOS9 update. No surprise, therefore, that the headline feature are some performance tweaks to ensure smooth operation under iOS9. Having given the update a quick run out under both Audiobus and via IAA, all seems to be working pretty well….  good to see :-)

BIAS FX offers flexible signal chains including a dual chain option.

The other significant addition is that BIAS FX now includes support for Positive Gird’s upcoming BT4 Bluetooth MIDI pedal. The BT Series hardware was announced some time ago and has been quite a while coming. However, the BT4 version should be shipping soon and, thanks to Jaime Ruchman at PG, I should have a pre-release review unit here at the Music App Blog at some stage in the next week or so; fingers crossed :-) I’ll do a review of the new unit as soon as I can…

If you are just making your first steps with mobile virtual guitar rigs, BIAS FX is undoubtedly a brilliant piece of software and would be a great place to start….  You can check out the full review here but, at the current price of UK£22.99, BIAS FX represents very good value for money whether you opt for any of the additional IAP content or not.
