AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub updates – extra IAA features added

AUFX Space logoaufxdub logoAs I posted recently, Kymatica have been quick to offer support for the new iOS7 inter app audio (IAA) protocol within their excellent AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub reverb and delay effects apps.

Kymatic have now made available further AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub updates. As well as bringing some minor iOS7 tweaks and Audiobus improvements, the main additions are in the IAA implementation. This includes some minor bug fixes but also brings an IAA host transport panel to both apps. This operates very much like the Audiobus transport panel that many iOS musicians will already be familiar with, allowing you to trigger playback within your IAA host while working within AUFX:Space or AUFX:Dub. You also get a button to switch back to the IAA host application.

As shown in the screenshots included here, this is a very neat arrangement and both transport controls and app switching seemed to work very smoothly using Auria as my IAA host. This is all very encouraging for the new IAA protocol and, for using effects apps (as opposed to synths or guitar amp sims), offers some considerable advantages over what’s currently possible via Audiobus (although I suspect A Tasty Pixel might have some Audiobus developments up their sleeves that can bring some other features to the table). Fingers crossed that other developers can get IAA embedded in their music apps sooner rather than later.

AUFX:Space gets the same treatment.

You can read the original reviews of AUFX:Space and AUFX:Dub elsewhere on the blog. Both are excellent apps with a very clean, simple user interface. Let’s hope Kymatica can keep the development work going forward on these and on other apps that might be added to the AUFX series.
