AUFX Series updates – new features and fixes for all the AUFX audio effects apps

aufxdub logoAUFX Space logoaufxpeakq logoAUFX Push logoAs regular readers here will already know, I’m a bit of a fan of the iOS music apps produced by Jonatan Liljedahl under his Kymatica brand. As well and the brilliant Sector, Jonatan is also the developer behind the very impressive AUFX series of apps, a suite of audio effects apps, all available at pocket money prices but with a performance that is anything but cheap and nasty.

I’ve reviewed AUFX:Space (a reverb), AUFX:Dub (a delay), AUFX:PeakQ (an EQ) and AUFX:Push (a dynamics effects) before on the blog and all are impressive. What’s more, they are easy to integrate into your overall music production workflow as each includes both Audiobus and IAA support. They all adopt a similar – and very easy to use – interface and, if you are keen iOS musician, then the whole series is well worth a place on your iOS device of choice (the apps are universal).

Anyway, all of these apps received an update over the week-end. The App Store descriptions suggest that the changes are similar for all four apps and are of a technical and/or workflow nature. So, for example, you can now control the Bypass button for each app via MIDI. Equally, there is now MIDI support to allow you to execute program changes between presets. The apps can now also receive MIDI inout from more than one source at the same time. A facility for saving/loading MIDI mapping setups is also now included.

A new Audio Settings section has been added to the main menu for all four apps (shown here in AUFX:Push).

Other additions include a new Audio Settings section within the main menu, some tweaks to the IAA support for iOS8 users and updates to both the Audiobus and audio engine support. All these things are welcome and just means that these great apps and even better with more control options for users and smoother, more efficient, operation.

At just UK£3.99 each, software this cheap has no right to be this good…  but it is, so all four are well worth a download if you don’t already own them. There is also a bundle options for all four apps at just UK£10.99; simply follow any of the individual download links below and you be able to find that option also :-)
