I’ve covered both Audiomux and Midimux here on the blog over the last couple of weeks. Provided you are using a recent release of OSX on your desktop computer, between them, these two iOS apps allow you to send both MIDI and audio in both directions between an iOS device and a computer running OSX using nothing more than the standard USB-to-Lightning (or 30-pin) cable supplied with your iDevice.
Using both apps together (and the relevant OSX ‘server’ apps on your Mac; these are available as a few download from AppBC’s website), you can, therefore, link your iPad or iPhone with your desktop/laptop Mac and, as if by magic, pass both MIDI and audio data between them. Being able to do that is not, in itself, a new thing… but being able to do it so easily and without the need for any additional hardware is quite a step forward in terms of system integration.
As I posted a few days ago, Midimux has received its first update and, on the back of that, Pascal at AppBC was kind enough to supply me with 5 copies of each app to giveaway to readers here at the blog.
Entries closed yesterday and the winning names were drawn at random out of the hat this morning. Again, many thanks also to everyone who entered. The winners should have now received an email with details of how to get hold of their free copy but, for information, the readers names drawn out the hat were:-
Incidentally, if you do appear as a winner in one of these giveaways and you don’t seem to have seen an email from me with the promo code details, then do make sure you check in your junk, trash or spam folders just in case your email system has ‘filed’ the message there :-)
You can read my original reviews of Midimux and Audiomux here… and, if you didn’t win this time around, then click on the links below to purchase and download the apps from iTunes… Oh, and if you want to be in with a chance of winning in any of the giveaways that I run here on the blog, then just join the email list; all members of the list are automatically entered.
Here’s hoping the winners enjoy using the apps….
