Arpeggist updated – VirSyn add new features and fixes to their dedicated MIDI arpeggio app

Download from iTunes App Storearpeggist logoAs I posted a week or so ago, a number of the rather excellent iOS music apps from VirSyn are currently on a pretty significant sale. This includes VirSyn’s iOS mega-synth app Tera Synth alongside apps such as microTERA (a waveshapping synth and currently 50% off), Harmony Voice (pitch shifter and automatic harmony generation; also 50% off) and Addictive Synth (50% off).

Some of these apps feature a very well featured arpeggiator function and VirSyn’s latest release was Arpeggist, an app that takes those rather good arpeggio functions and presents them as a stand-alone app that you can use to drive any MIDI-based synth. As I posted in my review of Arpeggist, it really is a lot of fun to use and offers all sorts of creative options without being too difficult to find your way around.

An update to Arpeggist appeared on the App Store today. This takes the app to v.1.1.0 and it brings a couple of new features and some fixes. For example, you can now select arpeggio patterns via MIDI program change messages and there is also the option for MIDI start/stop.

VirSyn have also applied some bug fixes related to ‘external MIDI and hanging notes’. I noted in my original review that I hadn’t been able to get Cubasis to receive MIDI data from Arpeggist….  I’m not sure if the bug fixes applied here have addressed this or I’ve simply now found the way to make it work but, when I tried the update this morning, provided I selected the ‘Virtual MIDI’ input for my Cubasis MIDI track, I could now receive MIDI data (and record it) within Cubasis. Anyway, it’s great to see VirSyn adding new stuff and tidying up loose ends in a prompt fashion….

VirSyn’s arpeggiator function has always been a very nice arp feature within their various synths and seeing it now as a separate app is most welcome. If you like a bit of arp action, then Arpeggist is also ‘on sale’ – the launch price is just UK£3.99 – so grab a copy while you can….   and do check out their other apps while the current sale lasts…. :-)
